Your practice of NVC or other methods for gaining self-awareness has a ripple effect. When you change, the world around you can’t help but change too. That, of course, is the ultimate goal here: a better world.
If your personal growth has stalled—maybe NVC hasn’t quite “taken” for you—Ike and John just might get you to the next level. They teach how to use every conflict, every day, as an opportunity for growth and connection. Their flexible teaching model lets you start from wherever you are and build, layer by layer, through extensive practice.
Many people find that training with Ike and John helps them learn better and faster than ever before. The distance between conflict and connection may be shorter than you think.
- Just like real life. Central to our approach are extensive role-play exercises that mimic real situations. You’ll rapidly acquire the skills and capacity to mediate internal and external conflict.
- Peer learning. Because our trainings integrate new and experienced students, you can both get coaching and offer it. And if you see someone in the room doing something you like, you can try it too. It’s a very stimulating learning environment.
- Support for your practice. When you train with us, you join a community that will help you continue to practice and learn at home.
- A collaborative environment. We’re a community on a journey. John and Ike might be at the front of the room, but they know that a breakthrough might come from the back.
Let our students tell you about it:
“The class was my pathway to grasping NVC in a deeper way.”
“The NVC Mediation class was my pathway to grasping NVC in a deeper way. The immediacy and aliveness of the role-plays highlighted the value of having fluency in NVC skills and motivated me to take my learning to a deeper level. The structure of the class facilitates learning in a way that works very well for me. There is just the right amount of theory to help us get started, with the larger portion of the class left to dynamic role-plays with excellent coaching from the teachers. I think Ike and John teach really well together. The class is dynamic and engaging.”
—Holly Wilder
“This class taught me NVC more powerfully than anything else.”
“The mediation series with John and Ike was one of my most enjoyable and fun learning experiences in recent years. I’ve taken various NVC classes over the years but this class taught me NVC more powerfully than anything else. I began to see for the first time the power, the simplicity, and elegance in the NVC model. I am really excited to continue deepening my NVC and mediation skills.”
—Tiko Shah
“The opportunity to grow and bloom into our fullest selves”
“I am attending the program for a second year. I feel way more comfortable being authentic and having difficult conversations. I feel grateful to Ike and John and the whole NVC Mediation yearlong community for providing a nurturing and dynamic cauldron in which we, the participants, have the opportunity to grow and bloom into our fullest selves.”
—Teresa Rose, 2010 graduate
“This work is profoundly life transforming”
“The miracle is I enrolled in the mediation training because even after studying NVC for about 5 years, I still got triggered into anger and self-judgment when I had conflicts in my relationships, and I was still letting self-judgment and my inner critic keep me stuck in anxiety and tension in both my body and mind. I am totally amazed that I not only am more able to stay present in the midst of conflicts and afterwards, but that I am also offering conflict coaching to friends and family and just had a client who paid me to help her deal with a conflict! Wow! This work is profoundly life transforming not only for me, but for everyone in my life.”
—Punita Greenberg, 2010 graduate
“The doorway to understanding the experience of being human”
“John and Ike’s training gave me the tools to navigate my internal world as I vacillate between times of calm and times of storm. These tools support my self-understanding … and self-growth. They also provide a way into understanding others. All of my relationships have improved. I’ve found this training to be the doorway to understanding the experience of being human, and the bridge that connects us all to one.”
